Ugaritic texts have been called “the greatest literary discovery from antiquity since the deciphering of the Egyptian hieroglyphs and Mesopotamian cuneiform”. They and other archaeological findings unmask Old Testament polytheism hidden for centuries. They reveal Israelites were Canaanites worshipping the supreme Phoenician God El of Genesis 1 whose divine council of 70 sons created heavens, earth and man. Yahweh was just one of his sons and was gifted Israel to rule by El.

Ray documents how editors replaced El with Yahweh resulting in contrary accounts throughout the Old Testament.
