Sammy the Dump Truck is a simple, children’s story, presented in both English and Spanish geared toward the beginning reader.  Sammy is a caring and generous dump truck that shows his kindness to the children in his community.  The children adore Sammy for his thoughtfulness, and in return for his kindness, show him gratitude and love.

The author, Nancy Weitzel, created this sweet, endearing children’s story with the help of her sons.  Their vivid imaginations and love of the beach, and their community, brought Sammy to life each night at bedtime.   The author lives in Aptos, California, with her husband and 2 sons.  In celebration of Sammy’s beachside home, the Cement Ship at Seacliff State Beach, can be seen in the background illustrations.
