A dance between light and darkness, good and evil, justice and injustice and the importance of silence and also the importance of voicing the truth to bring light to those who suffer. The Artist and the Poet combine colors and words to provoke and cultivate consciousness.

Maria the Poet and Demetra the Artist are related not only by blood, but they're related by creativity and God like spirit. Both connected, both keen, both enthusiastic about their love for the Lord and the mysteries of life. Both dance a different kind of dance, yet their dance is about uniting earth and heaven in a harmonious bliss.

This is not an autobiography in any typical sense. While people are interested in Obama’s life or Gandhi’s life, there is no such interest in my life. Rightfully. This is not that kind of book. I believe that getting old is the first time we can genuinely figure out the relationship we have with ourselves. What our likes and dislikes are when they are uncoupled from social standards.

So this is a kind of mental autobiography. It’s a book of essays about everyday life, from the perspective of being much closer to the end than the beginning. The essays are different lengths and there are even ditties (words that rhyme…more Dr. Seuss than poetry). There was nothing systematic about the topics I wrote about. Someone would say something, or a thought would wake me up in the middle of the night. Then I would write to find out what I thought.

Eleven year old Max Snyder welcomes you to his vivid world of imagination. Max started writing poems when he was eight. 'School' and 'Rebellion' were written during that time as part of his class assignments. The rest of the poems in this book were written during the summer months over the last two years. Max drew the pictures of 'The Autonomous Airship' and 'The Knowing Owl' first, then composed the poems afterwards. One of Ili's passions is painting in watercolor. She loved how whimsical Max's poems were and transformed them into the watercolor illustrations in this book.
