Life is a collection of stories, and the most memorable are often the ones where things didn’t go quite according to plan. In Stop Me If I’ve Told This One Before, readers are invited on a nostalgic and self-deprecating tour of a life punctuated by the absurd and the unexpected.

Whether surviving an ill-fated attraction to poisonous oleander flowers as a four-year-old or diving into a competitive hide-and-seek game that ended in a literal garbage can, Steve Kane finds humor in both the mundane and the calamitous episodes of his life.

From a 1970s childhood filled with “Rowdy Group” parents and a “Sailing Trip from Hell,” to an adulthood marked by wild college escapades and a bizarre Chinese-Spanish Super Bowl, this memoir bypasses traditional milestones and accomplishments. Instead, it invites readers straight into the author’s real journey: a vibrant collection of questionable decisions, memorable encounters and comedic misadventures.

Stop Me If I’ve Told This One Before is a heartfelt, hilarious reminder that while life is messy in real time, the deepest appreciation-and the best punchlines-are found in the retelling.
